Calling 311

People attempting to call 311 for information about government services are getting different responses. One Huntington resident said her call was connected to a town employee; another reached Suffolk County, which was her goal, and a third kept getting a message “the service you are calling is not available from this location.” If you are having trouble getting information from Suffolk County through 311, try dialing the 1-631-853-6311. A callback to that latter number was returned in less than one minute Tuesday afternoon.

Honoring Nursing Home Workers

The Long Island center of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care USA (SRLC-USA), a global non-profit organization, has been organizing motorcades to appreciate workers at hospitals, nursing homes, police departments and fire departments, for their work fighting the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic. On Saturday, the group went to the Carillon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Huntington to cheer on workers. Town Clerk Andrew Raia and Town Councilman Mark Cuthbertson participated in the salute to workers. The caravan was escorted by the Greenlawn Fire Department and Suffolk County police. The previous week, they honored members of the Huntington Fire Department.
