Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care is working with MSG Sports to provide COVID-19 PCR testing for fans who are returning to Madison Square Garden.
All MSG ticket holders must receive a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours before the event and present the printed or mobile test results upon entry with a ticket. Northwell-GoHealth is ensuring that ticket holders who receive PCR testing through its custom, dedicated process will have their results in time for their MSG event.
After purchasing tickets, MSG Sports customers will receive a link to schedule a Virtual Visit where they will receive a clinical evaluation and a confirmed testing appointment as part of the telehealth session.
“As New Yorkers look to resume some sense of normalcy – and that includes attending Knicks and Rangers games at Madison Square Garden –diagnostic testing continues to be an important way to protect yourself and others from COVID-19,” said Adam Boll, executive director of joint venture operations at Northwell Health. “That’s why MSG Sports has teamed up with Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care to provide PCR testing so fans can safely return to The Garden and enjoy a truly New York experience. The pandemic appears to be on a downswing and vaccination certainly offers protection, but testing is still the best defense to ensure that we stop the spread.”

Medgar Evers College and York College vaccination centers opened Wednesday by appointment.
Both sites will vaccinate 3,000 New Yorkers a day, seven days a week. For the Medgar Evers College vaccination center, eligible New Yorkers who live in the following ZIP codes can book an appointment now: 11207, 11212, 11208, 11206, 11233, 11213, 11221, 11226, 11236, 11216, 11225, 11210, 11203, 11238.
For the York College vaccination center, eligible residents in these ZIP codes can book now: 11436, 11434, 11433, 11419, 11413, 11412, 11422, 11429, 11420, 11411, 11418, 11435, 11428, 11423, 11432, 11427, 11439, 11691, 11692, 11693.
On Saturday, scheduling opens to any eligible resident of Queens or Brooklyn.

Teachers Union Responds
NYSUT President Andy Pallotta issued the following statement Thursday on the ongoing confusion over the standards required to safely return students to in-person instruction in New York districts:
“As educators, we want our students to return to schools as soon as it is safe. Contrary to recent reports, the safety standards surrounding a return to in-person instruction in schools have not changed, nor has the science behind those standards. The New York State Department of Health and the CDC all agree: the safety of our students demands mandatory mask wearing and six feet of social distancing or the use of effective physical barriers. Decisions must also still be made collaboratively with parents and educators. These standards have not and must not change.”
But the union also strongly opposed a federal mandate to reinstate testing requirements.
“In a year that has been anything but standard, mandating that students take standardized tests just doesn’t make sense,” Pallotta said. “As the educators in the classroom, we have always known that standardized tests are not the best way to measure a child’s development, and they are especially unreliable right now. We need to ensure that our students who have been hit hardest during the pandemic receive the support they need. Sizing up students with inequitable and stressful exams is not the solution.”
NYSUT previously encouraged the state to request a federal waiver of grades 3–8 and high school testing requirements. Thousands of comments were submitted to the state by educators demanding a waiver of testing requirements this year.
“We have grave concerns that standardized tests at any level can be administered in any sort of equitable way,” NYSUT Executive Vice President Jolene T. DiBrango said. “Students deserve better. Regardless of what flexibility the federal government provides, no student should be forced to come to school in person just to take a test.”
