Crime Stoppers to Offer App for Anonymous Tips

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers has created an app that people can use to anonymously report crimes.

The P3 app, a tip submssion system, will be available Monday.

The app allows people to anonymously upload tips, photos, videos with no length limitations to assist law enforcement during investigations. The free app can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching “P3 Tips.” Tips previously accepted as SMS text messages using a short code and a dedicated keyword will no longer be accepted.

Even without the app, there is still an easy and secure option for submitting tips online by visiting p3tips.com and tips are still welcomed via phone by calling 1-800-220-TIPS or 631-852-NARC.  Each submission method will provide a tipster with a TIP ID and password. With this information, a tipster can log in at p3tips.com and submit follow-up information, engage in real-time chat/two-way dialogue, be informed of the outcome of the tip, and access any pertinent reward information.

Anderson Software created P3, which stands for Public, Police, Private Sector-the three key elements of the Crime Stoppers program. All tips will still be anonymous, secure and eligible for cash rewards.
