Students wishing to attend the Catholic High Schools of Long Island for ninth grade in the 2019-2020 school year should register for the Entrance Examination by Wednesday, Oct. 3.
The exam is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. at each of the 9 high schools in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. The exam is the first step in the process to apply to these schools. A non-refundable $60 fee is due at registration.
Open to current eighth grade students, the entrance exam is required for consideration to the following schools: Chaminade High School in Mineola, Holy Trinity Diocesan High School in Hicksville, Kellenberg Memorial High School in Uniondale, Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, Sacred Heart Academy in Hempstead, St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, St. Dominic College Preparatory High School in Oyster Bay, St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School in West Islip, and St. Mary’s High School in Manhasset.
The exam provides objective data about students applying to Catholic high schools. It measures ability and achievement in reading, mathematics, and language. The schools use exam results to make decisions about applicants. Walk-ins are also welcome; however, a $15 late fee must be paid.
Accommodations may be made for extended time and/or enlarged print; such applications must be submitted by Friday, Sept. 29. Each school will hold weekend Open House events staffed by administrators, faculty members, and students to describe school programs and answer questions.
