Huntington Democrats have finalized their lineup of candidates for election this fall.
Meeting in caucus Monday night, the Democrats chose Kathleen Cleary to send against Town Councilman Gene Cook, an independent. She defeated Barry Lites, who was originally chosen earlier this year but dropped out before returning to the race. Cleary ran unsuccessfully against State Sen. John Flanagan in November.
Simon Saks will go up against Andrew Raia, a Republican state assemblyman who is seeking to claim the office of town clerk, long held by his mother, Jo-Ann Raia, who is retiring this year. Raia was re-elected to the state assembly in November.
Also chosen to seek re-election were Town Councilwoman Joan Cergol and Town Receiver of Taxes Jillian Guthman. The caucus also endorsed Cheryl Helfer as for Third District Court.
As as result of the Cleary designation, Michael Bento of Northport withdrew his bid for Town Council.
