Running from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the open house will also offer free blood pressure checks, show residents how to operate a fire hose, provide tips on first aid, and give away candy to kids who don’t have to be in costume, Other activities include the deployment of the “jaws of life” to pry open a wrecked car, and demonstrations of how firefighters handle building/home fires.
The open house will be held at the department’s training facility at 590 Deer Park Ave., Dix Hills.

On Thursday, Andre Sorrentino and friends are sponsoring a fundraiser for the 14th annual Huntington Station turkey giveaway for Thanksgiving. That fundraiser will run from 6 to 9 p.m. at the firehouse at 115 Deer Park Road and offers a buffet and drinks for $75. See the flyer for further details.
