Dix Hills Fire Department Members Honored

Members of the Dix Hills Fire Department and the Suffolk County Police Department were recognized for their lifesaving actions by the Suffolk Regional Emergency Medical Services Council (REMSCO) on Nov. 13.
The Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue Squad crew and Suffolk Police responded to a drowning call in July for a  2-year-old child removed from a backyard pool in cardiac arrest.
Police Officer Michael Morgan began CPR and was assisted by Ex-Chief Bill Stio.
Fire District Paramedic Robert Cabano and Paramedic Captain Scott DiPino soon arrived and began advanced life support treatment with the assistance of EMTs Maresa Spizzirri, Louis Aquino and Lt. Gerard Rosciano, Jr.
En route to the hospital, the crew was able to revive the child who began breathing on her own. The rescuers were all presented with the REMSCO CPR Save Award for their lifesaving efforts.
