Where can a dog go to cool off after a hard day of barking, chasing squirrels and digging in the trash? To Heckscher Park, of course.
Huntington Town Councilwoman Joan Cergol arranged for the installation of a water station, which was unveiled Friday. The stainless-steel station features a slow-draining bowl as well as a faucet that allows park users to provide their dogs.
Town Supervisor Ed Smyth, Parks Director Todd Jamison, Deputy Town Supervisor John McCarron, along with numerous four-legged friends, and members of LI-DOG joined in the unveiling.
LI-DOG donated the station, placed near the northwest corner of the Harry Chapin Rainbow Stage to provide for on-leash dogs, which have been allowed in the park since 2020.
