Donnelly Hosting Pet Food Drive

Suffolk County Legislator Tom Donnelly, D-Huntington Station,  is hosting a pet food drive through April in cooperation with Long Island Cares.

Donnelly’s district office at 130 W. Jericho Turnpike serves as a drop-off location for the Eighth Legislative Pet Food Drive Challenge where much-needed pet food and supplies will be collected to benefit Baxter’s Pet Pantry of Long Island Cares. While 5 and 10 pound bags of dog and cat food, canned food, kitty litter and new pet toys are most needed, all pet food is welcome, including food for hamsters, fish, birds and ferrets.

The office is open for drop-off Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, until April 30.  As per health code requirements, all pet food must be unopened and in original packaging.  For more information, call (631) 854-4433.

“When people fall on hard times, it impacts all members of the family including pets,”  Donnelly said.  “Families shouldn’t have to decide between feeding themselves and feeding their beloved pets.  I am happy to partner with Long Island Cares once again on this important and much needed cause.”
