‘Draw Out’ Brings the Creative to Heckscher Park

Artists and those just wanting to try their hand at creativity came out for Draw Out Sunday at Heckscher Park.

The Heckscher Museum’s Draw Out offered events at the Heckscher Museum and park, including a chance to enjoy music, or creaste or view artwork. Participants young and old painted or drew on easels, picnic tables, benches or even on the ground, while others watched their works take shape. A live model posed for artists, while others sat near the pond to paint watercolors.

Bette Schneiderman, a member of the Heckscher Museum Board of Trustees for 15 years, said the event “represents where we’re at with the community. It’s not just for kids and not just art lovers but the opportunity to have a hub the community that draws people i and touches them in an important way.”

Cmonty provided music. The event was free.

Bruce Segal, another trustee, said Draw Out was “another way of connecting arts to the community. This is a gem in the center of a gem on Long Island.”
