A Long Island City man was arrested early Saturday after Suffolk police said he drove drunk and in the wrong direction on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills.
Police said a Highway Patrol officer saw a car traveling west in the eastbound HOV lane near Exit 51 at 4:51 a.m.
Luis David Romero Diaz, 24, of Long Island City, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
