Suffolk County Police arrested a man Wednesday morning on charges of driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law after he was pulled over in Huntington Station for a traffic stop with his young children in the car.
Miguel Cruz was driving a 2012 Nissan Rogue south on New York Avenue near Depot Road when a highway patrol officer initiated a traffic stop for speeding and failure to maintain a lane at approximately 12:45 a.m.
Cruz, 25, of 167 First Ave., Huntington Station was arrested and charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated under Leandra’s Law. The passengers in the vehicle were his 2-year-old daughter, his 4-year-old son, his 25-year-old girlfriend and his 16-year-old brother.
The children were released to the custody of his girlfriend
Cruz is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip later Wednesday,
