An East Northport man was killed by Suffolk County police officers after he pointed a weapon at them and threatened to shoot them, the department said Monday.
Police gave this account:
Officers responded to 23 Grant St. , East Northport at 10:08 p.m. Sunday on a domestic incident call. When the Second Precinct officers arrived, resident Jeffrey McClure pointed a gun at officers, who then left the home. McClure made his way to the roof of the home and subsequently ignored commands to drop the gun, which appeared to be a hunting rifle, and threatened to shoot officers. McClure then pointed the gun at officers and was shot. The gun proved to be a pellet gun.
McClure, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue personnel.
