Election 2020: Voting Underway

Huntington voters who went to the polls early Tuesday morning reported long lines in several cases, but the traffic appeared to drop off by mid-morning and early afternoon.

At Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Centeport, early voters stood in lines that stretched down the block. A similiar line was reported at  a school in Northport, Cold Spring Harbor High School, Oldfield Middle School and Countrywood Primary before 10 a.m. One man who went to his polling station at 5:45 a.m. ahead of the 6 a.m. opening, said a line had already formed but that he was able to vote in under an hour. Later voters said they were able to sail right through in 15 minutes or less at some of the same polling stations or others, including Huntington High School, the Huntington Fire Department and Town Hall.

Voting places are open under 9 p.m.

Early voting last week drew thousands of voters who stood in lines for up to three hours at the two Huntington polling places.

Photos were contributed by community members, including Jason Molinet (Northport school), Nola DeVito Amend (Our Lady Queen of Martyrs), Pam Setchell (second OLQM) and campaign staffers.
