Election Day Notes: Food Drive at Halesite, Prayer for the Day

If you’re voting some time Tuesday, here are some last-minute tips:

Halesite FD Food Drive

The Halesite Fire Department, which serves as a polling place, says:

“Coming to the firehouse today to #vote? Why not bring your donation of #cannedgoods and #nonperishablefood items to our lobby and drop it off while you’re there?! All donations are going to the Family Service League and will be distributed locally to neighbors in need #fooddrive #halesitefd #neighborshelpingneighbors”

Election Day Prayer

Former Long-Islander reporter Danny Schrafel  now working in Nassau County government offers this Election Day prayer:

To the people who have presented yourselves and have been scrutinized as candidates for public service in recent months, I applaud you. It’s not easy to do, and I commend you for taking the plunge.

(Well, most of you, anyway. I digress.)

Whatever happens later today – Good luck, Godspeed, and whatever you do, candidates – win or lose – do it big, for God’s sakes.

Mama don’t want no recounts.
