Elwood Group Changes Name, Honors Service

The Elwood Taxpayers Association formally changed their name last week to the Elwood Civic Association.

Sworn in as officers were:

President – Ann Maguire
Vice President- James Tomeo
Director of Communications- Tom Scarola
Secretary- Heather Mammolito
Treasurer – Helen Keller
Sergeant at Arms – Walter Rabe
At the meeting, the group honored long-standing members of the organization for their service.
In addition, the group honored Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia, who swore in the  officers and was also recognized by the organization for her many years of service to the Town of Huntington.
The other three members of the organization that were recognized were:  Fred Troll and his wife, Lucille Troll. Both have been members since the early 1960’s. Both served as president at one time and Lucille served in various roles throughout the years. She is the organization’s historian. They were both recognized for their many years of service.  The third member  was Joseph Caruso.
Caruso served for many years as well and was an essential part of building membership over the years and branding the association.
Guests who also presented certificates of recognition were Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, Councilwoman Joan Cergol, Councilman Gene Cook and Town Clerk Jo-Ann Raia.
The organization will be on recess until September. Their next meeting is 9/11/19 at the Elwood Library at 7 p.m.
