Equipment, Tools Stolen From Shopping Center Construction Site

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a burglary that occurred in at the Huntington Shopping Center in Huntington Station.

Someone damaged the locks and entered a vacant construction site, at 350 Walt Whitman Road, and stole approximately $10,000 worth of equipment and assorted power tools, police said.

The burglary was reported on Friday at approximately 6 a.m., police said. Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

The site is undergoing significant reconstruction, as several shops have been closed to make way for newer ones, including  Whole Foods, which is taking the place of the Michaels store.
