Extra LIRR Trains Returning from Soccer Ticker-Tape Parade

A ticker-tape parade celebrating the World Cup victory by the American women’s soccer team is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The Long Island Rail Road has booked extra trains returning to Long Island for Wednesday afternoon.

On the Port Jefferson line, the extra trains are:

  • 2;29PM stopping at Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Jamaica, New Hyde Park, then all stops to Huntington
  • 3:24PM stopping at Jamaica, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville

The parade will run on Broadway from the Battery to City Hall, a stretch known as the Canyon of Heroes.

To save money, the LIRR recommends passengers buy tickets before boarding at staffed ticket windows, LIRR ticket machines or via the MTA eTix app. Activate MTA eTix just before boarding the train. For departure times, see branch timetables or visit mta.info.

The temperature is expected to be in the low 80s Wednesday morning in Manhattan, with some clouds.

Northport’s Allie Long, a member of the championship team, drew some criticism for briefly dropping the American flag during the post-game celebration.
