Fall Festival, Columbus Day Parade Coming Up

The Long Island Fall Festival returns to Heckscher Park this weekend, with music, food, vendors and rides all part of the schedule.

Kids can enjoy pony rides, art activities, mad science fun, carnival rides and music.

Street vendors will be on hand Saturday, Sunday and Monday, while the carnival opens the festival Friday night.  Among the hundreds of vendors are Main Street Board Game Café, Huntington Public Library, Native American Handcrafts, Henna Squad, Pickle People, and American Legion Riders Post 1244.

A farmer’s market will also operate.

The festival schedule:
Friday, 5:00 to 9:00 pm
Saturday, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Sunday, 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Monday, 11:00 am to 5:00 pm

On Sunday, Order Sons of Italy in America will march in its annual Columbus Day parade in Huntington, from Park Avenue west on Main Street, starting at noon. The parade is co-sponsored by Town Supervisor Chad Lupinacci.

The group is celebrating the Year of the Woman. Grand Marshals are Nancy DiFiore-Quinn, OSDIA national president, Mary Naccarato, NYS OSDIA First Lady, Lina Ferrito, NYS OSDIA past first lady and Jill Nicolini, WPIX Ch. 11 traffic reporter.
