Family to Offer Airborne, Curbside Delivery to Trick or Treaters

Russ and Rosa Lella of Melville won’t let safety rules for the Covid-19 epidemic get in the way of delivering goodies for Halloween.

They’ll be sending candy to young trick or treaters via a pulley system they’ve rigged up at their home in the Melville triangle, practiciing social distancing while kids get a chance to add to the haul of sweets.

The 40-foot-long pulley was Russ Lella’s way of bringing a creative solution to an unfortunate situation. When his wife suggested putting out a table filled with candy, he thought they could do something more interesting.

“2020 has been tough. The kids, like everyone, have sacrificed so much,” he said. “I just want to make Halloween fun for the kids. And the parents!”

He said that their children, at 17 and 20, are well past the age for trick or treating, but that the Melville triangle area draws a small army of kids and they expect to busy throughout the day.
