A Dix Hills man was killed Tuesday morning when his vehicle crashed into a pole in Deer Park, Suffolk County Police said.
Michael Scavone was driving a 2003 Ford Econoline south on Commack Road when his vehicle veered off the road and struck a pole at the intersection of Long Island Avenue at 9:36 a.m.
Scavone, 70, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. Detectives believe he may have suffered a medical emergency immediately prior to the crash.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
