First Aid Squad Hosts Drug Overdose Program

The Huntington Community First Aid Squad  partnered Saturday with Suffolk County Legislator William “Doc” Spencer and the Suffolk County Department of Health Services to host an opioid overdose training program.

The presentation was given by Dr. Gregson Pigott, EMS medical director and clinical director of the Opioid Overdose Prevention Program. Participants were taught  to recognize and prevent a fatal overdose and received a free emergency resuscitation kit that included Narcan.

Visitors also got an opportunity to tour the EMS facilities, see the equipment carried on the ambulances and first responder vehicles and learn hands-only CPR.

An AAA Traffic Safety representative was on hand to teach parents how to keep their children safe in a car.
