First-Day Hike at Caumsett on Jan. 1

If you’re looking to walk off holiday excesses or simply enjoy the outdoors, you can join a first-day hike at Caumsett State Park on Jan.1.

New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (State Parks) and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) invite New Yorkers to celebrate the New Year at one of the more than 75 hikes being held at state parks, historic sites, wildlife areas, trails, and public lands across the state and the nation as part of the 9th annual First Day Hikes program.

The Caumsett hike will start at 10 a.m., and is recommended for people ages 7 and up. The price is $4; Meet at the Dry Stock Building.

In addition, the park will host the sale of 2020 Caumsett Annual Fishing Access Permits will be going on sale on Thursday, January 2, from 8- 4pm at the park office located near the flagpole.  Permits will also be available for purchase at the Regional Permit Office, at 625 Belmont Avenue Babylon, NY 11702. For more information, call (631) 321-3515. Fee of $40.00 for NYS Residents, $75 for Out of State.  500 permits are sold per year.
