Football Championship, Holiday Celebrations Get Underway

The long holiday weekend continues Friday when Walt Whitman plays Massapequa for the Long Island Class I title at noon at Hofstra University.

Northport Tree Lighting

The Northport Chamber of Commerce and Northport Fire Department are sponsoring a tree lighting and caroling at 7 p.m. Friday at the Village Park.

Downtown Parade

On Saturday, Huntington is hosting its 11th annual Red, White and Blue electric holiday parade and tree lighting  starting at 5:30 p.m.

Grand marshals include Huntington Hospital healthcare workers, first responders from every fire and EMS district in Huntington, Bill Harris and the Huntington Blue Devils baseball team, the Walt Whitman High School kickline, with the lighting of an 80-foot tree to follow. The celebration includes food, music and Santa. Street closures.

Boat Parade

The Huntington Lighthouse Preservation Society is sponsoring a boat parade Sunday at 6 p.m.

The parade of boats can be viewed from several points on shore.

Menorah Lighting

Supervisor Chad A. Lupinacci and Town officials will join Rabbi Yaakov Y. Raskin of the Chabad of Huntington Village, Rabbi Asher Vaisfiche of Melville Chabad and members of the Huntington Business Improvement District and the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce for a big Menorah lighting at 5 PM on Monday, the second night of Hanukkah, on Wall Street in Huntington between Main Street and Gerard Street.
