Free Mobile Vet Clinic to Service Veterans and Their Dogs

Suffolk County Legislator Susan A. Berland is teaming up with Paws of War to host a free mobile veterinary clinic in the parking lot behind her office for veterans and their pets.

As part of their Vets2Vets program, the clinic will be free of charge to veterans on Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at 6080 Jericho Turnpike in Commack.

Paws of War is non-profit organization based in Nesconset funded entirely on donations and contributions. They host and provide veterans with a number of resources including the mobile clinic, as well as their mission which is to, “To train and place shelter dogs to serve and provide independence to our U.S. military Veterans that suffer from the emotional effects of war. In turn, each Veteran can experience the therapeutic and unconditional love only a companion animal can bring.”

The Vets2Vets program began when the organization saw the need for veterinary care for the pets of veterans and first responders living with disabilities. The van comes equipped with veterinary care, dog nail clipping, dog food, microchipping, flea and tick protection, supplies and other services.

Spots for Saturday’s event are limited, so to guarantee a spot RSVP to [email protected] or call 631-FOR-PAWS
