The town of Huntington is offering free spay and neutering services for pitbulls and pit bull mixes throughout October.
North Shore Veterinary Hospital and Little Shelter Animal Rescue will conduct the program in recognition of Natioal Pit Bull Awareness Month, which begins Oct. 1.
The Town Board authorized the agreement at its Sept.17 meeting.
The town also will waive the adoption fee for pit bulls and pit bull mixes during October.
