2nd Update: Friends Organize Help for Family of Man Killed on Jericho Turnpike

Friends of the man killed Nov.19 on Jericho Turnpike have formed fundraisers to assist his family.

Alex Moschos of Neraki Greek Mediterranean Grill is offering the Beck family dinners on the house as well as donating money directly to to them.

A GoFundMe campaign has set a goal of raising $94,000 to help the family of James Beck, 57, who was walking on Jericho Turnpike at  the Totten Avenue intersection when he was fatally struck by two cars.

A pancake fundraiser on Dec. 3 will be hosted at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church at 10 Pinetree Road in Huntington Station. There are two seatings: 9-10:30 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost is $10  per person.  Cash will be accepted at the door or attendees can pay by Venmo  @TKGoodwin.

Additional donations or funds or gifrt cards will be accepted.

Girl Scouts of South Huntington are assisting the family as well by organizing a meal train. Karen Beck, his wife, is a Girl Scout leader and theirtwo daughters are Scouts.

Karen Beck is a member of the Huntington Town Democratic Committee, and was appointed by Town Councilwoman Joan Cergol to the Asian American Task Force.
