It could be a busy but damp weekend around Huntington. For the rain-averse, there are indoor options.
Walt Whitman High School is hosting the 27th annual Mercy Benefit Concert on Friday, featuring the musical skills of students, staff and faculty, to support the organization Community Solidarity. The concert starts at 6:45 p.m. The audience is invited to bring blankets and chairs to the concert on the lawn.
Community Solidarity distributes vegetarian and mostly organic groceries as well as clothing, books, toiletries, toys and other items with thousands in need, including in Huntington Station.

Glow for Gold
The “Glow for Gold Angelversary” gala gets underway Friday at the Vanderbilt Museum, a fundraiser for pediatric cancer. The event includes a parachutist, food, drink, and raffles.
Public Art Crawl
The Huntington Village Public Art Crawl includes live mural painting, live music, an art fair and the launch of a summer music series, Summer in the Streets. Its focus is on public-facing, outdoor art.
The two guided tour start at 1PM on Wall Street. The tour will be followed by a pub crawl at 4:30 PM with guests receiving drink specials at restaurants that emphasize art throughout town.

Teen Poet Laureate
On Saturday, Suffolk County’s first teen poet laureate, Ella Scarlett O’Connor, is heading up Youth Speaks for Social Justice, a spoken-word performance at the Walt Whitman Birthplace. Students grade
The event will be held from 1-3 pm. Students grades 9-12 will compete and proceeds from the event will be donated to the charity of the winner’s choosing.

Kevin James and his Irregardless Tour will be at the Paramount Sunday. The Long Islander’s show starts at 6:30 p.m.
Garden Tours
On Sunday, the Huntington Historical Society is sponsoring its spring festival of gardens, with tours planned at homes around Huntington.
