Ambassador Gargano Speaks on Rebuilding After Sept.11 Attack

Ambassador Charles Gargano met with supporters at Mac’s Steakhouse Thursday night before heading to the Book Revue for a reading of his book, From the Ground Up, Rebuilding Ground Zero to Re-Engineering America.

Gargano, who worked in the Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations, also served as chairman and CEO of the Empire State Development Corp., commissioner of the Department of Economic Development, and vice chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Gargano was principally responsible for the regeneration of lower Manhattan following the Sept. 11 attacks.

Former Gov. George Pataki wrote of the book, “Using each major lesson learned during the decade-plus of rebuilding lower Manhattan after 9/11—each achievement and setback—From the Ground Up offers Americans, for the first time, a comprehensive, practical, and inspiring plan for re-engineering the entire country. It’s about time.”
