Get Ready for Halloween: Costume Contest by E-Mail; Children’s Costume Parade

The Town of Huntington’s annual Halloween children’s costume parade is scheduled for Oct.31. Participant should arrive by noon at the US Post Office on Gerard Street, with the parade stepping off at 12:15 p.m.
Village merchants will hand out goodies to trick or treaters.

Cinema Arts Centre is sponsoring a free Halloween costume contest.
Participants should send in a photo of themselves in a movie-themed costume to be entered in the contest. Winners will receive a vintage movie poster.
Photos are due before Halloween. Anyone can participate, the center said. Email  [email protected]
Greenlawn Halloween on Broadway

The Greenlawn Civic Association is planning its ninth annual Halloween on Broadway, from 3-6 pm Oct. 30, including the filling of three Thanksgiving boxes for Helping Hand Rescue Mission.  Watch for the haunted Greenlawn Fire Department truck.

Northport Halloween Hayride

The Northport Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Halloween hayride Oct. 24 from noon to 4 p.m.  Other events include a costume contest, halloween treats and pumpkin painting.

Haunted Outdoor Halloween Party

Trick or treating, crafts, music and other activities at the Elwood Public Library, Oct. 30, 10-4. Wear a costume to get a prize.

 

Nightmare on Main Street

Nightmare on Main Street, a Halloween-themed exhibit, is showing from Oct.22-Nov. 13 at the Huntington Arts Council.

The works are by students grades 6-12, and reflect a variety of cultural experiences of Halloween. Free.
