Graduates Trading Books for Uniforms and Service

Several young residents are heading off to join branches of the US military, either at service academies or directly into service.

Some were honored at a recent Town Board meeting, recognized for their commitment to the country and public service. Their high schools have also honored them with breakfasts or at graduation ceremonies.

Among those enlisting into service or admitted to service academies are:

From Walt Whitman High School:

Alexandro Feliciano is joining the  Army. Colton Kraese has enlisted in  the Navy;  Shaun Murphy will be attending the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Marcus Nazario is joining the Air Force.

From St. Anthony’s High School:

Olivia Spada (Coast Guard), Jake Knoth (West Point), John Piangozza (Merchant Marines),  Aaron Mendoza (Naval Academy), Brendan O’Connor (Merchant Marines), Christopher Welling (Merchant Marines).
