A Greenlawn motorcyclist was killed early Sunday morning after he collided with an Uber vehicle in Huntington Station.
Suffolk County police said that Gerson Mendez-Cruz, 20, ran a red light at Melville Road while eastbound on Jericho Turnpike and struck the Uber, which was northbound on Melville Road.
Mendez-Cruz, 20, of Greenlawn, was transported to Huntington Hospital and later died. A 22-year-old female passenger in the Uber was transported to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The Uber driver, Felix Perez, 24, of Levittown, was not injured.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
