Guardsmen Win Awards for Hurricane Work

Major General Anthony P. German, the adjutant general of New York, announces the recent award recognitions for members of the New York Army National Guard who participated in the humanitarian assistance and disaster relief support missions following the devastation caused by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria in 2017.

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Aaron Chiu from Melville.  Chiu served in Puerto Rico from Oct. 29 to Nov. 7, and serves with Company B, 3-142nd Aviation Battalion of the New York Army National Guard.

Sgt. Anthony Hetherington from Huntington. Hetherington served in Puerto Rico from October Oct. 29. – Nov. 27 and serves with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3-142nd Aviation Battalion of the New York Army National Guard.

Spc. Joshua Steinkamp from Dix Hills. Steinkamp served in Puerto Rico from Oct. 1-Nov. 6,  and serves with the 442nd Military Police Company of the New York Army National Guard.

Spc. Shannon Lichten from Huntington. Lichten served in Puerto Rico from Oct.1- to Nov.19 and serves with the 442nd Military Police Company of the New York Army National Guard.
