Halloween: Costume Parties and a Candlelight Tour

UPDATED with Festivus cancellation.

The Halloween season means parties, costume contests and more. Here are some of the things happening around Huntington starting next week.

Oct. 17: Spooky Candlelight Tour of the Walt Whitman Birthplace, with Whitman personator Darrel Blaine Ford. 6-8:30 p.m. Tickets at the door or online.

Oct. 18: People Like Games is putting on a Halloween Festivus, a themed gaming party and costume contest, raffles and food. Among the available games are HALO, Dead or Alive 3, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate [2v2 32 Person Tournament],Smash Bros 64, Mario Kart Tour and Pokemon Stadium tournament.

The party runs from 7-11 p.m. at Launchpad, 315 Main St., Huntington. 

Oct. 20: Family Halloween at Walt Whitman Birthplace, Huntington Station

Features Magician Magic Mike, with tours of  the Historical Birthplace Home.
Best Costume Prize, Historical Crafts
$9 per child, pay at the door or online. 1-3 p.m.Tickets

Oct. 26: Costume party at the Elwood Public Library

Celebrate Halloween at the annual costume party. Be ready for a costume contest, snacks, dancing, music and fun. 
1-3 p.m.
 

Oct. 27: Northport Chamber of Commerce 

12-4 p.m. Halloween Hayride, Northport Village Park/ Decorate pumpkins at
Einstein’s Attic, free.  79 Main St., Northport 

Oct 31: Walt Whitman Shops safe trick or treat at the mall. Halloween Day at participating retailers. 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
