WEDNESDAY: The Huntington school district PTAs are hosting a candidates night, featuring school board candidates Christine Biernacki, Lynda D’Anna, Tom Galvin and Theresa Sullivan.  The Zoom link to the forum, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be posted Wednesday.

U.S .Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-Huntington, is hosting an online town hall at 7 p.m. with Moms Demand Action, to discuss gun safety issues. Register

THURSDAY: Ribbon cutting for Going Local Tours and Experiences, 5 p.m., 43 Green St., Huntington.

Westbound lane closings will start Thursday night on the LIE between exits 53 and 48, for the next for Thursdays.

SATURDAY: Voting closes at midnight in the YPA Label Competition, sponsored by the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce,  in partnership with Six Harbors Brewing Co. and The Huntington Arts Council. The goal of this contest is to represent the community of Huntington and all our town has to offer. The winner of contest will receive $500 and their art on an exclusive can at Six Harbors Brewing Co. Vote here.

Residents of Huntington and Oyster Bay are invited to attend an online presentation to learn how to become oyster gardeners this summer. The Zoom presentation, from 10:30 – 11:30 am,  will be followed by an in-person visit to the site of the garden at West Neck Beach. Oyster gardening supporters and Huntington Town Council members Joan Cergol and Ed Smyth will welcome attendees.  Registration begins Monday.  Oysters serve as “ecosystem engineers” improving water quality, enhancing habitat and protecting shorelines from damaging storms.

The PUBlic Art Crawl will run from noon to 8 p.m.  Participants will receive a guided map and explore over a dozen public murals, as well as receive special promotions at participating restaurants. 

Reminder: The wake for NYPD Officer Anastasios Tsakos is scheduled for Monday at St. Paraskevi Greek Church on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn. His funeral is Tuesday. Traffic in the vicinity of Pulaski Road and Broadway east to Stony Brook Road will be heavily affected, with Harborfields schools going remote on Tuesday and having early dismissals on Monday. Pulaski Road will be closed Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. and drivers are urged to avoid the area.
