Happening This Week: Color Run, Police Forums

Monday:

  • The Long Island Fall Festival wraps up Monday at Heckscher Park. The festival, which began Friday, features music, food and entertainment. It opens at 9 a.m. and runs until 5 pm.
  • The SCPD Second Precinct will host a meeting and roundtable discussion with faith leaders at 6:30 p.m. at the stationhouse. It’s part of National Faith & Blue Weekend, an effort to create safer, more inclusive communities by connecting law enforcement officers and residents.

Tuesday:

Second Precinct Police host a community meeting at 7 pm. at the South Huntington Public Library.

The League of Women Voters hosts its second candidate forum of the week, this time at 7 pm with candidates for seats in the Suffolk County Legislature.

Friday:

The Town of Huntington 27th Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration Dinner Gala will honor Community Service Award recipients, Libardo Ramos, vice president of People’s United Bank, and Samira Lopez, social worker at the Dolan Center, and present scholarships to students. 6:30-9 pm.

Saturday:

  • The Drug and Alcohol Task Force Color Run goes off at 9:15 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue Elementary School in East Northport. Other activities include life-sized yard games, photo booths, and dancing.
  • NIOT–Not in Our Town–sponsors a family event in Cow Harbor Park in Northport at 10 a.m.
