Happening This Week: School Budgets, Hospital Update

Monday:

The Huntington school board convenes at 7:30 p.m. at the Jack Abrams STEM Magnet School, 50 Tower St., Huntington Station, to adopt the next school budget. The meeting can viewed on Youtube.

Tuesday:

  • The Huntington Town Board meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall.
  • Huntington Democrats convene at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. State Sen. Jim Gaughran and State Assemblyman Steve Stern, along with 12th Assembly District candidate Cooper Macco, will be introduced.  Macco is running against Assemblyman Keith Brown, R-Northport.
  • The South Huntington Board of Education meets at 7:30 p.m. at the district office, 60 Weston St. The meeting can also be viewed on Youtube.

Wednesday:

  • The Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce networking breakfast gets started early, with Dr. Nick Fitterman from Huntington Hospital providing updates on the hospital and  Northwell Health. The session gets underway at the Paramount at 7:30 a.m.
  • Coffee With a Cop continues at noon, featuring Suffolk County police, at Starbucks at the Walt Whitman Shops.
  • It’s bottles, plastics and cans recycling day, starting at 5 a.m.
  • The Huntington Planning Board meets at 6 p.m.at Town Hall. The agenda.
  • A free virtual training session in using Narcan to avert overdoses is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.  More info.

Thursday: 

The Huntington Zoning Board of Appeals meeting that was scheduled has been canceled.

Friday:

Good Friday and the start of Passover coincide this year.

Saturday:

  • Decker’s Nursery is hosting an Easter egg hunt for two age groups, 3-5 year olds (9:30 a.m.)  and 6-9 year-olds  (about 10:30 a.m.) This free event will be at 841 Pulaski Road, Greenlawn.
  • The Northport Native Garden Initiative will be celebrating Earth Day with donated plants and a table outside Northport Village Hall, 10a.m.-1 p.m.
