Harborfields, Commack Residents Approve Bonds

Voters in the Commack and Harborfields school districts approved bonds Tuesday.

The Commack vote on the $67.6 million bond was 764-259; the Harborfields $20,407,453 bond passed 1,122 to 590.

Enhancements in Commack include security improvements, and upgrades to bathrooms, athletic fields, and air conditioning in large spaces.

Harborfields plans to repair basic infrastructure, including outdated boilers, repairing cracked sidewalks, improving fresh air intake and replacing deteriorating ceiling and lighting fixtures, as well as enhance security features.

Harborfields superintendent Dr. Francesco Ianni said, “On behalf of the entire district, I thank those residents who took the time to vote on the proposal.

“Through your support, our schools will receive numerous upgrades to enhance infrastructure, security, academic and athletic facilities. As we move throughout the process of beginning these projects, we will continue to keep our community updated. Again, thank you to the community for its support!”
