Harborfields Diver Recognized by Huntington Town Board

Harborfields senior Alex Zhang was recognized Tuesday by the Huntington Town Board for his numerous accomplishments as a diver.

Councilman Mark Cuthbertson said Zhang had been recognized as one of the best divers in the United States and noted that the student has committed to attending the US Military Academy at West Point next year.

Cuthbertson also presented Zhang with the school’s MVP award.

He was recently named an All-American in diving and won the thir consecutive Suffolk County diving championship this past year.

“It’s pretty amazing when our athletes are able to achieve something like this,” said Principal Timothy Russo when Zhang was recognized as an All-American. “We are really excited and happy for Alex, and so proud of everything he’s done.”

Flag Honors

The board also recognized Dr. Dan Picard, who served as chairman of the operation that places American flags on the lawn of Town Hall every year for the past 10 years. The chiropractor recruits 100 or more volunteers every year to set up 500 flags on the lawn. All proceeds from the Field of Honor help veterans and their families in Huntington. Flags are still available for this year’s Field of Honor www.buyaflag.org
