Harborfields Names Interim Superintendent

The Harborfields school district has named Dr. Rory Manning as interim superintendent, succeeding Dr. Francesco Ianni, who has moved to the Oyster Bay-East Norwich school district.

Manning’s appointment takes effect Jan. 1. He has worked for the Harborfields district for eight years, serving as high school principal, and then in two assistant superintendent roles, first for human resources and administration, and later for curruciulum, instruction and administration.

“The Board of Education is confident that Dr. Manning has the professional leadership skills and vision to lead our district,” Board of Education President Suzie Lustig said. “Dr. Manning’s dedication and commitment coupled with his knowledge of our schools, students and community will ensure a seamless transition during this time. Even more so, we look forward to watching Dr. Manning execute his vision for Harborfields School District and know it will lead to a bright future for our Harborfields Family.”

Manning has been honored several times, including  with the Harborfields Alumni Community Educational Foundation Making IT Happen Award (2017) and the Western Suffolk BOCES Model Schools Administrator of the Year (2015).  He said he is most proud of Harborfields High School, receiving a National Blue Ribbon Award during his time there as principal.

Ianni worked in several school districts, including Bellmore-Merrick, New York City, and Locust Valley before coming to Harborfields for the first time in 2006, and returning in 2013.
