Harborfields Schools Go Remote Tuesday for Funeral of NYPD Officer

All schools in the Harborfields school district will go fully remote Tuesday because of the funeral  for NYPD Officer Anastasios Tsakos.

The service for the officer is scheduled for 10 a.m. at St. Paraskevi Church on Pulaski Road in Greenlawn. 

 Pulaski Road wil be closed from Broadway through Stony Hollow Road from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Harborfields has two schools nearby, while the road closing is expected to affect downtown Greenlawn and multiple businesses along Pulaski Road.

Tsakos, an East Northport resident, was killed Tuesday by a drunken driver in Queens, who was captured shortly after she fled the scene. He had been directing traffic around another fatal accident when he was hit.

The officer’s wake is scheduled for 2-9 p.m. at the church on Monday. Harborfields will close schools early Monday because of the anticipated traffic for the wake.

The Elwood district said will notify families that there will be delays in bus services.
