Heavy rain is forecast to hit the Huntington area Saturday, as remnants of Hurricane Ian head to the Northeast.
The National Weather Service said Friday that Long Island could expect 2 to 3 inches of rain and gusting winds starting Friday night and continuing through Sunday. The heaviest rainfall is expected on Saturday, the weather service said.
Some activities, such as a touch a truck event scheduled for the South Huntington Public Library, have already been canceled in anticipation of the rain.
A high-pressure system with low pressure associated from Ian is expected to create strong winds along the Northeast coast, Accuweather said.
“This action will lead to above-normal tides, coastal flooding, beach erosion and dangerous surf conditions from northeastern North Carolina to eastern Massachusetts,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Joe Lundberg said.
