Hindus celebrated the festival of Diwali at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Melville Thursday night.
Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights, symbolizing the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.”
Members of the temple celebrated the colorful holiday, accompanied by numerous local leaders who took part in the festivities at the brightly lit temple.
