Holiday Highlights: Historical House Tours

The Huntington Historical Society’s historic houses at the holidays tour resumes this year after a two-year break.
“Visit to Sammisville” will tour five homes on Dec.4 that involve the Sammis family, all descendants o John Sammis, one of the original settlers of Huntington. He built his homestead in 1665.
The homes, four privately owned, and one part of the Banbury Center of the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, are within a two-mile radius of the first 17th century house.
During the tour, cars will be parked at two locations in the area and bus transportation will be provided.The tour will be headquartered in the Conklin Barn at 2 High St., Huntington.
Tickets will include a raffle for $100 gift certificate to Mill Pond Restaurant. Prices for historical society members are $40; %50 for non-members.

Booklets (tickets) with house tour information can be picked up at the Trade School Building at 209 Main Street, Huntington,  Dec.1 and Dec.2 between 11am and 5pm. They will be available the day of the event at the Conklin Barn at 2 High Street. starting at 11am.
