Hospitals Told to Coordinate Care, Supplies in Fight Against Pandemic

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said Tuesday that there are 75,795 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the state.

He also announced the Central Coordinating Team to get hospitals to coordinate services, supplies, staff and patients throughout the state’s healthcare system instead of maintaining separation between public and private hospitals. One of the goals is to  assist stressed hospitals and organizing patient transfers to the USNS Comfort.

The state is launching an online portal that will help connect hospitals and healthcare facilities across the state with the nearly 80,000 healthcare workers who have volunteered to work temporarily during the pandemic. Hospitals with the greatest need will be the priority. Volunteers are expected to be deployed as early as Thursday.

The number of Covid-19 deaths in Suffolk County has risen to 53.
