HOV Driver Accused of Using Mask to Fake Passenger

Suffolk County Police issued a summons  Wednesday to a Lake Grove man after he was pulled over for driving with a mask attached to his front passenger seat in the HOV lane on the Long Island Expressway in Commack.

Highway Patrol Officer Jonathan Abrams was traveling on the Long Island Expressway, just before the Sagtikos Parkway at exit 52, when he became suspicious of the front passenger of a 2017 Nissan sedan. Police said Justin Kunis, 20, had attached a drama mask to the front passenger headrest in an attempt to make it look like a passenger was in the vehicle.

Officer Abrams stopped him at 7:15 pm. Wednesday and issued Kunis a summons for the HOV occupancy violation.
