How Huntington Allocates LIPA Tax Revenue

With a settlement or judgment pending on LIPA’s tax challenge lawsuit against the Town of Huntington, here’s a look at the financial details of the town budget.

LIPA picks up the tab for National Grid’s Northport power plant’s property taxes. Currently, it pays roughly $86 million. The majority of the revenue, $56 million, funds the Northport school district. But that’s only part of the situation. All town operations will be potentially impacted by the outcome of the case.
