If you want to check up on possible food and retail practice violations of food establishments in Suffolk County, you can search this site.
Violations fall into two categories: Risk Factors and Good Retail Practices.
Risk Factor violations are more likely than other violations to be associated with foodborne illness, and most violations must be corrected at the time of inspection, the county said. Examples of Risk Factors for foodborne illness include ill food workers not restricted from working, bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods, and foods that require temperature control for safety not maintained at proper temperatures.
Good Retail Practices violations refer to the cleanliness and maintenance of a food establishment, or to improper sanitary practices. Examples of maintenance violations include accumulated grime on floors or equipment, unlabeled food containers, and improperly stored utensils.
