The Town of Huntington will provide sign language interpreters certain public events.

Communications director Christine Geed said that interpreters will participate in press conferences involving public health or safety, such as storm warnings.

Two interpreters, Lisa Scala and Megan Newman, from Mill Neck interpreting services, attended a press conference Wednesday about ways to keep safe on Huntington waterways, with one signing as Supervisor Ed Smyth and others spoke.

In addition, Angel Cepeda, director of the Huntington Community Development Agency, delivered the water safety recommendations in Spanish.
