Huntington Democratic Committee Names 4 Candidates

Huntington Democratic leaders have chosen their candidates for town office in the election this fall.

Two seats on the Town Board will be on the ballot, as Town Councilwoman Joan Cergol, the lone Democrat, has decided not to run again, and Councilman Gene Cook’s term is expiring.

The Democratic leadership picked Jennifer Hebert to run again. The educator ran in the 2021 election but lost. They also chose Don McKay for a spot on the board, and Linda Davis Valdez for town clerk.  They picked Tax Receiver Jillian Guthman to run again.

“The executive committee’s recommendations were based on many criteria, including the skill sets of the individuals and how we believe they will complement each other during the upcoming election cycle,”  said Mark Cuthbertson, chair of the committee.

The Democratic committee meets Tuesday for its designating convention, 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.
